No. 26 NASCAR Nationwide Series Crew Chief Fined For Rule Violations At Atlanta Motor Speedway

DAYTONA BEACH, Florida – NASCAR announced today that Wesley Gonder, crew chief of the No. 26 team that competes in the NASCAR Nationwide Series, has been fined $5,000 and placed on NASCAR probation until Dec. 31, 2010 as a result of rule violations during this past weekend’s event at Atlanta Motor Speedway.
The No. 26 car was found to be in violation of Sections 12-1 (actions detrimental to stock car racing); 12-4-J (any determination by NASCAR officials that the race equipment used in the event does not conform to NASCAR rules) and 20A-5.10.1B(3) (carburetor venturies exceeded the specified size) of the 2010 NASCAR Nationwide Series Rule Book.
The infractions were discovered during opening day inspection on Sept. 3.

10 Are In: Remaining Two Chase Berths Determined At Richmond

Regardless of any other driver’s finish, Biffle will clinch if he finishes 42nd or better or if he leads at least one lap. His previous best season finish is second in 2005, the second year of the Chase.

Racing To Win Pays Dividends For Bodine, Germain Racing

Some might argue that racing for wins and accumulating points is like mixing lit matches with gasoline.
Not Mike Hillman Jr., who shared Todd Bodine’s (No. 30 Germain.com Toyota) 21st NASCAR Camping World Truck Series victory on Sept. 3 at Kentucky Speedway. Hillman is the series’ top active crew chief winner and third on its all-time victory list.
“You points race when you realize you don’t have the truck that is capable of winning the race,” said Hillman. “Germain shows up to win races and will continue to do that.”

Applications for turkey, javelina, buffalo and bear tags now accepted
PHOENIX — The Arizona Game and Fish Department has released the 2011 spring hunting and drawing information for turkey, javelina, buffalo and bear. Electronic copies of the application form and regulation booklet are available online at www.azgfd.gov/draw.
Many of the spring hunts have a limited number of tags and are issued through a draw/lottery process. The deadline to apply is Tuesday, Oct. 12 by 7 p.m. (MST). Postmarks do not count, and there is no online application process.

Busch Gunning For Fourth Straight National Series Victory

Last week’s O’Reilly 200 win opened an unprecedented NASCAR national series weekend sweep at Bristol Motor Speedway where Busch added a third consecutive NASCAR Camping World Truck Series victory at the .522-mile concrete oval.
Bristol, however, is in Busch’s rearview mirror. Next up is Friday night’s EnjoyIllinois.com 225 at Chicagoland Speedway. Surprise: Busch is the defending winner at the 1.5-mile track located a few miles southwest of Chicago in Joliet.
The 2009 race was win No. 2 of five for Busch in consecutive appearances that included Bristol, Chicagoland, New Hampshire Motor Speedway, Talladega Superspeedway and Texas Motor Speedway.

Phoenix Moves To Week 2 In NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Lineup; Realigned NASCAR Sprint Cup Events At Kansas And Kentucky; Chicago To Host Chase Opener
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – NASCAR announced the 2011 schedule for its three national series, highlighted by several key changes for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series.
“The adjustments and realignment of the 2011 NASCAR Sprint Cup schedule will make for an exciting race season next year,” said NASCAR Chairman and CEO Brian France. “The revised schedule provides better situated dates for the tracks, a more challenging lineup for the drivers and ultimately more intrigue for the fans.”
One of those changes comes early, as the second race of the season will be held at Phoenix International Raceway on Feb. 27, a week after the season-opening Daytona 500. PIR replaces Auto Club Speedway in Week 2. Texas Motor Speedway fills in the vacated Phoenix spot on Saturday, April 9 for what will be an exciting night race in the Lone Star State.
